US in the America

From a glorious fun filled 10 days in SF, we flew to NY  where we were received by the warm hospitality of Anitha and Sriram. Their simple house was  real poetry and full of positive energy and romance.

With Sriram Mama - the wonderful host

The first afternoon started off with a  NY city tour which allowed us to experience the sights and smells of the city without getting our feet dirty literally. We also got to experience NY in its night time starting from Times square - a glorious sight indeed.

The next day was spent with a ferry cruise to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis island.

That is Vidhu relaxing in the cool environs of the Statue of liberty lawns. She sure had a ball of a time socializing with visitors and after a wonderful, relaxing lunch containing puliyotharai and thayir satham made with love and care by Anitha/Sriram, we headed off to Ellis island which used to be point of immigration for all people into America.

Those intense eyes are piercing (photo of an early immigrant at Ellis island)

After another night of fitful rest, we headed off the next day to Central park zoo where Vidhu started off with a Dora show . This photo was taken just before the entry into the zoo.

Thanks to Anitha and Sriram, who had a fabulous stock of home made food at our disposal that gave us the energy to keep our legs going, we had a fabulous time. With heavy hears, we made our way out of the airport - the memories will always linger on

U & us in USA

Vidhu had a wonderful whirwind trip to the USA where she discovered plenty of new things and more importantly lots of new friends and relationships that would last a lifetime. She spent almost two weeks at her Uncle's place in San Francisco - easily the best city to live in the US (IMHO). There we go to get started - the first evening started off with a stroll to the neighbourhood park to stretch our legs after a long journey :

And they walked into the twilight

And bonded together - brothers in arms

I am comforable here

Mark waugh's lazy elegance

I seem to love it here

Coming from a scorched India, the pleasant weather and the beautiful twilight set the stage for what would be an awesome fortnight of fun to follow.

Next up was a short city tour with a lunch at Chipotle  - Vidhu did enjoy the day out looking relaxed in her pink dress. We did a round of window shopping at Macy's and had coffee and snacks at the Westfield mall :

Chipotle rocks !

Healthy eating for a healthy touring !

The day was well spent with Vidhu sleeping through the journey back and refreshing herself.  After another relaxed day, we headed out with Dwarark and Divya for three days of fun to follow at LA. The drive was awesome and we checked into Radisson and fell into a deep slumber to equip ourself for the next day ahead at Disney :

Who is the brightest of them all ?
Like a diamond in the sky..

Vidhu finished her first roller coaster ride effortlessly on Divya's lap. We also went for a wonderful water cruise that took us on a tour around the world in a semi-lit waterway. We saw Alice in wonderland, had a mad hat tea party to boot !

Twin engines roaring into Disney

Athai madi methai adi

oh.. ok. ok.you are precious too !

Darsh in his quiet, inimitable style was an absolute delightie - ice cream sandwich with his face never betraying any discomfort. Good, fabulous rides all in a day's work...

That's what we did..
