U & us in USA

Vidhu had a wonderful whirwind trip to the USA where she discovered plenty of new things and more importantly lots of new friends and relationships that would last a lifetime. She spent almost two weeks at her Uncle's place in San Francisco - easily the best city to live in the US (IMHO). There we go to get started - the first evening started off with a stroll to the neighbourhood park to stretch our legs after a long journey :

And they walked into the twilight

And bonded together - brothers in arms

Winding up with delicious channa/chapathi

I am comforable here

I seem to love it here

Coming from a scorched India, the pleasant weather and the beautiful twilight set the stage for what would be an awesome fortnight of fun to follow.

Next up was a short city tour with a lunch at Chipotle  - Vidhu did enjoy the day out looking relaxed in her pink dress. We did a round of window shopping at Macy's and had coffee and snacks at the Westfield mall :

Chipotle rocks !

Healthy eating for a healthy touring !

A peck a day..

That's the way the cookie crumbles

The day was well spent with Vidhu sleeping through the journey back and refreshing herself.  After another relaxed day, we headed out with Dwarark and Divya for three days of fun to follow at LA. The drive was awesome and we checked into Radisson and fell into a deep slumber to equip ourself for the next day ahead at Disney :

Who is the brightest of them all ?
Like a diamond in the sky..

Vidhu finished her first roller coaster ride effortlessly on Divya's lap. We also went for a wonderful water cruise that took us on a tour around the world in a semi-lit waterway. We saw Alice in wonderland, had a mad hat tea party to boot !

Twin engines roaring into Disney

Athai madi methai adi

oh.. ok. ok.you are precious too !

Darsh in his quiet, inimitable style was an absolute delightie - ice cream sandwich with his face never betraying any discomfort. Good, fabulous rides all in a day's work...

That's what we did..

Vidhu in Pazhani

Pazhani always brings good memories for us - me and Anusha for this is the place where we had gone to pray just before we were blessed with Vidhu. Little surprise that Vidhu decided to donate her hair to Lord Muruga. We sincerely hope and pray that this little sacrifice at the altar of the great God brings joy, prosperity and success to little Vidhu. Is there anything else a parent could wish for ?

Just before the ritual

During the ritual

My absolute favourite photograph - cho chweet !

Incidentally Vidhu also took her first bath in a bath tub - shaped like a duck and gifted by her uncle - Dwarak. She sure has a rollicking time in it for sure and she just can't seem to get enough of it.

Vidhu in Kolu

Little Vidhu celebrated her first dussehra in a grand fashion with the house being adorned by five little kolu steps, lit in their glory. The Kolu had vidhu's favourite doll a menacing looking robot that kept all mischief and antics at bay. Can you spot the robot in the above picture ?

Little Vidhu looked gorgeous in her new silky frock and extended her full co-operation in the pooja with thathu and ammamma. The function was also punctuated by some good functions at Samruddhi and poojas all around - in the house, for the car.

Vidhyutha's month of Joy - It's festive time !

Little Vidhyutha has been kept busy in "pattu pavadais" and traditional Indian attire all of last month with Janmashtami, Ganesh Chathurthi and Navratri keeping the little toes jiggly.

Janmashtami @ Your kids are our kids

Little vidhyutha with her other tot friends celebrated Janmashtami in grand style in a neat little lehenga with a black bindi adorning her little head.

Smiles abounded all round with a few tots dressed up as krishna.

Ganesh chathurthi

We celebrated Ganesh chaturthi in a quiet ceremony on Sept 1 with the entire works - new statuette of Ganesha, aval, pori and little vidhu ringing the bell to usher in the festive season. We wrapped the day with a round of shopping to refurbish our family wardrobe.

With her grandparents scheduled to visit us in October, watch this space for some more action on Navratri

Iduction to day care & first dance !

Little Vidhu had a hectic trip to Tirupathi on June 27-28th and then came in to Bangalore to get inducted to day care on 1st July 2011. Here are a few snaps from the latter - she seems to have settled into nice rhythm straightaway.

Here are a couple of snaps from the first day at day care :

Sprightly and happy

Tinkering around..

Also, to cherish was Vidhu's first attempt at dancing. It seems like she likes to jiggy a little bit even while standing still - and any bollywood song seems to get the little one excited. As you can see from the video, she seems to enjoy it thoroughly and her energy is infectious.

Vidhyutha's first birthday

Dear Vidhyutha celebrated her birthday in grand style on June 12th. It was an evening to remember with the little princess looking resplendent in a pink gown that would befit a princess. Everyone had a great time with tatoo, candy floss and a magic show thrown in.

Pink, its my favourite colour

The magician especially was chatty and warmed everyone up by taking a handful of people, literally for a magic ride.

Magic man
Then ame cinderella popping out of thin air, carrying a pink cake for the little one to celebrate her first special birthday.

Cinderella cake
Was'nt it a blow out event ? the kids, for sure seem to have had a good time. Little Vidhu was quite patient and co-operative throughout the entire event and kept up her charm wick throughout.

First of many more to come..
And after a good dinner, it was time for the special shubham photo
All's well that ends well

Walk the line - Vidhu's baby steps

Sorry about the long delay in posting a new one - Little Vidyutha learnt to stand up by getting onto the side of her favourite meal chair for support on March 17th - an event documented by Anusha on the camera.  Of course, she has since then moved up (literally and figuratively) by leaps and bounds - she does leap, hop and skip, with  a little help from parents though.

Here are a few snaps that celebrate 9 months of togetherness and moving up in life !
